In Spain, the celebration of Mother’s Day is traditionally celebrated as a family, people usually go out to eat and enjoy activities. Mothers are honored and pampered by their children and other family members with displays of affection, small gifts, and presents. In schools, children often do creative gifts, such as greeting cards, drawings, or more elaborate crafts.

The origin of Mother’s Day dates back to the time of the Egyptian Empire, when homage was paid to the goddess Isis, who was considered the mother of pharaohs and protector of her people. In Greek culture, goddess Rhea was honored, she was goddess of motherhood and fertility, and mother of Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. In ancient Rome, Cibeles was the mother goddess, the party that was celebrated in her honor was called the Hilaria, it was held on March 15 with a duration of three days.
